Three NHS trusts in Basildon and Southend have received spotless records for cleanliness for two-years running following a patient-led report.

The report from Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) showed the three trusts to have a 99.9 per cent rating which topped the national average of 98.4.

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trusts (EPUT) were above the national average in six different categories in the report from PLACE.

Ian Crockett, associate director of estates and facilities, said: “This is a really positive result which is a reflection of the dedication of our staff who constantly work hard to improve the patient environment and experience.”

Basildon Mental Health Unit, Clifton Lodge in Benfleet and Rawreth Court in Rayleigh were among the five inpatient sites in Essex to receive a 100 per cent record for cleanliness.

EPUT also bettered the national average for dementia care by more than 15 per cent.

However, Mr Crockett said that more work needs to be done to further improve the work already being done by EPUT.

He said: “We cannot be complacent and will keep working hard to maintain the high standards that our patients have come to know and expect from us.”

EPUT started this year at the beginning of April and help around 2.5million across Essex, Bedfordshire, Suffolk and Luton.
