An annual fun walk saw drew in the crowds and proved yet another successful fundraiser at Barleylands this year.

The fun walk began in 2002 to commemorate the Queens Golden Jubilee. It is organised by John Baron MP and his fun walk committee.

Each year, the event goes from strength to strength, and in 2013 the Fun Walk became a registered charity. It is now officially known as The Fun Walk Trust.

Many local projects now see the Fun Walk as their main fundraising event, in what is a fun afternoon for the whole family.

There is music, a superb BBQ courtesy of “Team Handsome”, plenty of other refreshments and a large field full of stalls. The aim being to raise awareness as well as money. The Walk is supported by its family of volunteers and by Barleylands farm who kindly host the walk.

In 2002, the first Fun Walk raised £6,000 for six charities and projects. In 2016, £110,000 was raised for 100 good causes bringing the total raised to £844,000 since its inception.
