A 50mph speed limit is set to be put in place along a stretch of the A130 as work continues on a third lane.

The stretch of road will be closed overnight this Friday night, September 29, to allow for CountyRoute crews to the traffic management and safety barrier in place to enable work to take place.

There will be signs diverting motorists down alternative routes throughout the temporary closure.

The temporary speed limit will stretch along a section of the southbound carriageway between the A12 junction at Howe Green and the Rettendon Turnpike.

Councillor Ian Grundy, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “CountyRoute is working hard to get the third lane open as soon as possible with as little disruption to drivers as possible.

“These embankment works are vital to ensure the A130 third lane remains available to drivers for years to come and are coming at no additional cost to the taxpayer thanks to our contract with CountyRoute.

“Two lanes will continue to run in both directions. I would ask drivers to be patient and abide by the speed limit for their own safety and the safety of crews working on site.”

CountyRoute, which runs the A130 on behalf of the Council, is working to open the third lane this winter.
