BOWERS & Pitsea notched a fourth consecutive Isthmian North win after securing a 3-0 win at Tilbury.

Callum Leahy was dismissed late on, but a strike from Jamie Salmon and a Lewis Clark brace was enough for Rob Small’s side to collect all three points at Chadfields.

Bowers stand-in skipper Lewis Manor had the first meaningful effort of the night, but his low effort following a corner was saved by Clarke Bogard.

Bryan Kyungu then sent a long-range effort high and wide for the Dockers midway through the first half, as both sides struggled to create clear-cut opportunities.

The visitors had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee on 26 minutes, as David Knight’s goalward effort appeared to strike a hand.

And Tilbury nearly profited from immediately, as the home side broke only for Adam Vyse’s strike to be dealt with by Callum Chafer.

Bowers then forced a string of corners, but the visitors could not make one of them count as Tilbury cleared the danger on each occasion.

Toby Aromolaran came close to making the breakthrough just past the half hour mark, but Chafer was equal to the winger’s strike, which was creeping inside the far post.

And that save proved pivotal, as Salmon gave Bowers the lead moments later.

The central midfielder was the first to a poor Tilbury clearance, and his side-footed effort found the bottom corner of the net.

And Bowers extended their lead three minutes into the second half.

Salmon’s dangerous free kick was expertly flicked into the bottom corner off the head of Clark, giving Bogard no chance.

Manor then came within a whisker of making it three as he met Knight’s centre. But the striker’s attempt on the slide went just over the crossbar.

The Dockers continued to find it difficult to create chances and Kyungu failed to take advantage of an ill-advised throw out from Chafer.

Kyungu bared down on goal but his long-range strike drifted high and wide.

John Easterford nearly became the second Bowers central defender to get his name on the scoresheet, but a last ditch tackle, along with a goal-line clearance, denied him.

Minutes later, Aromolaran sent a half-volley wayward when unchallenged on the edge of the penalty area following a half-clearance by Easterford.

Danny Norton tried his luck from long-range, but his strike failed to trouble Chafer.

Callum Leahy was shown a straight red card late on for violent conduct, but Bowers completed the scoring just a minute after going down to 10 men as Clark slid home from close range.
