ECHOSPORT takes a closer look at tomorrow’s opponents Doncaster following their promotion from League Two last season.
THE SEASON SO FAR
Doncaster started the season without a defeat in their first five games but since then Darren Ferguson’s side have triumphed just twice in 11 outings.
One of those wins came against Sunderland’s under-21 team in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night, but Rovers are 19th in the standings and have yet to win at home in the league this season.
RECENT FORM
Doncaster have lost six of their last seven league games and are currently 23rd in the form guide, with only Plymouth Argyle below them.
STYLE OF PLAY
Doncaster are expected to start in a 4-4-2 formation this weekend, which will see them line-up with a diamond shaped midfield with James Coppinger playing just behind the front two.
DANGERMAN
James Coppinger: The 36-year-old, who is close to 550 games for Doncaster, remains a big threat for Rovers.
The attacking midfielder will be best remember by Blues fans for scoring a hat-trick in the 2008 League One play-off semi-finals.
TEAM NEWS
Ian Lawlor is expected to return in goal, while Matty Blair faces a late fitness test.
Andy Williams is out with a thigh problem while Mathieu Baudry, Luke McCullough, Danny Andrew, and Alex Kiwomya will also be missing.
PREDICTED STARTING LINE-UP
Lawlor, Mason/Blair, Wright, Butler, Toffolo, Houghton, Whiteman, Rowe, Coppinger, May, Marquis.
