SOUTHEND United skipper Anton Ferdinand was sent off after the final whistle at Doncaster Rovers this afternoon.
Ferdinand was dismissed following the 4-1 defeat for shouting at referee Darren Handley.
And Brown was disappointed by the defender’s actions.
“Anton has just given me the exact footage of what he said, he appraised the referee in an aggressive manner and the referee issued a red card,” said Brown.
“It’s poor on Anton’s part but he tells me the words he used weren’t worthy of a red card.
“The referee’s brief at the start of the game was talk to me and I’ll talk to you but after the final whistle he spoke to him.
“Did he deserve a straight red? I won’t know until I read the referee’s report.”
Brown was also unsure how long Ferdinand’s resulting suspension will be.
