A ROUNDABOUT has been given a new lease of life thanks to the hard work of a voluntary group who set about improving it.

Canvey Bay Watch, which maintains and improved Concord Beach on the island, has carried out work on Bumble Bee roundabout, in Furtherwick Road.

Barry Campagna, member of Bay Watch, said: “Some of Canvey Bay Watch over the past four weeks have been cutting down the overgrown vegetation and cleaning up the Bumble Bee roundabout.

“The roundabout was looking untidy pedestrians and car drivers could not see each other when using it.

“Canvey Bay Watch were keen to take this project on.

“We knew once we cut the hedge down to a reasonably height it would a lot easier to manage.

“It is looking good now and is so much safer.

“We all love where we live and we had some spare time.

“Thanks to Michael Lewis for taking our picture.”

The group, made up of volunteers, is still selling its calendars to help raise money for its work, which includes putting in new benches, plant pots, painting the seawall and cleaning up rubbish and graffiti.
