Basildon Council is hoping to create a vibrant town centre and a thriving economy for everyone, according to a new corporate plan.
The transforming Basildon document was approved by members at full council on October 12, and sets out how the authority will create opportunity and prosperity for people and businesses.
The report states that Basildon Council will concentrate its resources on shaping a borough that has “strong, safe and healthy communities with access to local homes”, “vibrant town centres and a thriving economy for everyone”, and “enhanced local environment and increased pride in our borough.”
The plan sets out a vision for a common purpose and shared values for Basildon, Billericay, Laindon, Pitsea and Wickford.
Councillor Gavin Callaghan, chairman of Basildon Council’s policy and resources committee, said: “We know that we need to do more than just deliver efficient and effective services and this corporate plan highlights our commitment to putting our borough’s people at the heart of our policy-making process."
