Wickford had a street fair to be proud of as the town welcomed in the festive season.
The Wickford at Christmas event, opened by mayor of Basildon David Harrison and chair of the organising committee Eunice Brockman, was enjoyed by hundreds of people.
There were 45 stalls of gifts, treats and Christmas decorations, as well as mulled wine and hot chestnuts.
Santa arrived in style with his reindeer coming through the high street on his way to his grotto. But the fun didn’t stop there with children’s crafts in the community centre, sky-high angels and stage entertainment. There school choirs, magic and adult choirs helped make the evening day a hit.
The hard work was down to the Wickford at Christmas committee and the volunteers on the day.
It costs £5,000 to run the event and the committee is looking to upgrade their lights at a cost of £12,000, with many fundraising activities planned for the future to help fund the cost of the event.
