Two police officers have received serious injuries following an incident in which they were stabbed.
The incident happened shortly after 11pm on Friday, December 1.
Officers were called to a property, in in Springfield Road, Chelmsford, following a report of a concern for welfare.
On arrival they have been approached by a woman with a knife.
The woman has stabbed one officer in the leg and a second in the hand.
During the altercation the suspect has suffered a head injury and has been taken to Addenbrookes’ hospital for treatment.
Her injuries are not life-threating or life-changing.
The 50-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and GBH and remains in hospital.
Both officers have been taken to hospital for treatment, one remains in hospital awaiting surgery and the second officer has received treatment but will need to return due to the severity of the injury to his hand.
A number of officers attended and a scene guard is currently in place to allow investigations to take place.
