THREE cocker spaniels from the same litter have joined Essex Police to become search dogs.

Dakota, Denzel and Diego, who are 13 weeks old, are being looked after by their puppy walkers until they are ready to join the force to train as police dogs.

While under their puppy walkers’ care, the three trainee police dogs will learn about as many sights and sounds as possible.

They will be introduced to different surroundings such as shopping centres where they will experience different situations. They will be interacting with as many people, animals and types of transport as possible to ensure they aren’t afraid of them.

This provides a good foundation for when they start their basic training.

When the three brothers reach one year old, they will be passed onto a dog handler to enter the world of policing.
