A man who was killed in a crash last weekend has been named locally.
Allan Player, 34, was driving his Seat Ibiza down Rayleigh Road, Thundersley, when it crashed with a Mercedes Sprinter Van at about 3am last Sunday, December 3.
Two ambulance crews, two ambulance officers and a rapid response vehicle were called to the collision to a report that Mr Player was in cardiac arrest.
Despite their best efforts, he sadly died at the scene.
The 37-year-old driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.
An inquest into Mr Player's death is due to open at Chelmsford Coroner's Court this morning.
