PUPILS were given a snap shot into different vocations during a careers day at their school.

Phoenix Primary School, in Leinster Road, Basildon, welcomed people who work in the community to share their work experiences with Year 5s and 6s.

The children heard from a pilot, a fire fighter, a forensic scientist, and a radio frequency and security engineer.

They were given insight to the various roles showcased and learned how working hard at school increases their opportunities in the world when they are older.

Mandy Watson, Higher Learning Teaching Assistant, said: “It is amazing to see the realisation on the children’s faces that they really can be whatever they want to be.

“They are absolutely buzzing with all the opportunities that lie ahead of them and they understand how hard work at school will contribute to their own success.”
