FANCY indulging in a bit of Victorian murder mystery?

There’s a chance to catch the atmospheric thriller, the Limehouse Golem at the Palace Theatre in Southend next Sunday (February 25).

When a series of murders shake Victorian London, Inspector Kildare (Bill Nighy) of Scotland Yard is promoted to lead an investigation into finding the killer. The community believes only the mythical Limehouse Golem could be responsible, but as Kildare uncovers a group of unlikely suspects, he must discover which one is the killer before they strike again.

The film also stars actor Eddie Marsan, who has links with Basildon.

The Ray Donovan, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes and Gangs of New York actor has family in the borough and recently dropped into Basildon Library to support a dementia awareness event, organised by Basildon Hospital. The film is certificate 15 and is part of a series of monthly film screenings by The White Bus, which aims to bring the public films they may have missed, classics or just those that never made a wide distribution. Tickets £6 plus £1.50 booking fee available in advance from www.palacetheatresouthend.co.uk / 01702 351135 or on the door. The film starts at 7.30pm.
