A man has been left with multiple serious injuries after a hit and run this weekend.
Essex Police are appealing for information about the crash in Essex Way, Benfleet, at around 10.30pm on Saturday, February 17.
The victim was walking in Essex Way when he was struck by a black Nissan Navara and sustained multiple serious injuries.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "Two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance crew, ambulance officer and response car from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched to this.
"They treated a man, believed to be in his 30s, who had suffered a head injury and suspected broken ribs. He was taken to Southend University Hospital for further care."
The police believe the driver of the vehicle stopped and got out before driving off.
Officers arrested a 29-year-old man from Benfleet on suspicion of driving under the influence and failing to stop after an accident.
He has been released under investigation.
