THEO Robinson bagged four first half goals as Southend United’s under 23 side trounced MK Dons 5-0 at Roots Hall.

The Shrimpers striker netted a well-taken quartet of goals and was joined on the score-sheet by the fit-again Josh Wright in one-sided opening 45 minutes.

Blues – who also included the on-loan Sam Mantom in their starting line-up raced into an early when a powerful low shot from Nico Cotton was parried out by Dons goalkeeper Alfie Jones, enabling Robinson to tap home from close range.

Moments later, Norman Wabo combined well with McGlashan to tee up Robinson who netted with a low, right foot finish from the right hand side of the penalty area.

With the Shrimpers remaining on top, Wabo soon played in Wright to score with a clinical effort from close range before Robinson completed his hat-trick with an angled effort into the right hand side of the net.

But Robinson was not finished there and he added his fourth goal of the afternoon before the break when Wabo played in the striker who fired home another accurate effort.

Blues introduced the fit-again Dan Matsuzaka in place of Sonny Coutts at the heart of the back four at half-time.

But it was Dons who threatened next with Joe Bird sending a low shot against the foot of the right post.

After surviving the scare, the Shrimpers made a double change on the hour mark with Michael Klass replacing Wright in midfielder and Emile Acquah taking the place of Robinson in attack.

However, Acquah soon picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Renei Batlokwa before the game petered out late on.

Southend United: Bexon, Bwomono, Coutts (Matsuzaka 46), Kyprianou, Clifford, McGlashan, Wright (Klass 60), Mantom (Clark), Cotton, Wabo, Robinson (Acquah 60)(Batlokwa 70)).
