St Michael’s Church in Daws Heath opened its doors for a night of live country and gospel music to raise money for the new Fair Havens Hospice that will be built near Priory Park, Southend.

The concert was organised by Havens Hospices’ Chaplain Rev John Kennett, who is an accomplished singer-songwriter.

The evening was a great success raising more than £500 for the new adult hospice.

A packed church were treated to a variety of songs including Love lifted Me by Kenny Rogers.

Rev Kennett said: “What is vitally important to everyone I meet is how Havens Hospices cares for all of the family and we need the new hospice to continue providing that care and support to adults with life-limiting illnesses.

“I wanted to organise this concert to also raise much needed funds for the new Fair Havens Hospice so that we can continue to provide specialist care and ultimately continue ‘Making every day count’ for all our patients and their families.”
