POLICE are trying to track down a man who exposed himself to a mother and her two young children outside a primary school.

The upsetting incident took place outside Thundersley Primary School, in Dark Lane, Benfleet, on Tuesday, March 13 at about 6pm.

Police said the man was drunk at the time.

PC Roy Porter, of Essex Police’s Castle Point and Rochford’s community policing team said: “A drunk male was seen urinating outside the school.

“He has then exposed his genitals and waved to the victim and her two young children.”

Police officers attended and searched the area for the suspect but he was not found and enquiries are ongoing.

Parents are concerned at the proximity of the incident to a primary school, despite it being in the evening.

One mother, who has asked to remain anonymous, said: “Something needs to be done because this must have been horrific for the young children to witness.”

PC Porter added: “Clearly this was an upsetting incident for the victims and we are currently carrying out enquiries to try and identify the male so that he can be spoken to.

“We have not received any further reports of this activity and we will be working with the school to address any concerns the parents may have.

“The suspect has been described as being white, in his forties, wearing a dark beanie hat and a dark jacket.

“He is around five foot ten inches tall and of stocky build.

“If you have any information on this incident please contact Pc Porter on 101, quoting investigation 42/34888/18.”

A police spokesman added that while they are taking the report seriously the officers don’t believe this was a sexually motived offence.
