A drug dealer caught with 41 wraps of Class A drug, including crack cocaine and heroin, and cannabis has been jailed for three years.

Basildon Crown Court heard how officers from the South Operation Raptor team were patrolling in Bostocke Close, Laindon on February 12 this year when they became suspicious of a vehicle.

They carried out a search of the car, driven by 21-year-old Jason Farkye, and inside found wraps of both Class A drugs concealed in the driver’s door pocket and the centre console.

A bag of cannabis was also found hidden in the glove box as well as a bag containing nearly £300 in cash. The Class A drugs had a street value of more than £800.

Farkye of Roman Road, East Ham in East London was also found with a mobile phone which, after digital analysis, was found to contain evidence of his Class A drug dealing.

He was charged with two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class B drug. Farkye was also charged with driving whilst disqualified as he was subject to a driving ban at the time.

Farkye admitted the charges when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court and was jailed for three years. He was also banned from driving for two years.

Following the sentencing, investigating officer PC Dan Onley of the South Operation Raptor team said: “Farkye was found with a significant amount of drugs which were clearly destined for the streets of our county.

“If drug dealers think they can sell their illegal wares on the streets of our county, they can think again.

“Operation Raptor will be waiting and watching and like Farkye you can expect yourself to be lockied up the courts for a significant amount of time.”

Essex Police set up Operation Raptor teams in the North, South and West of the county to tackle those involved in drug and gang-related crime.
