An elderly man was freed after crashing his car into a tree.
The crash took place on Friday, shortly after 4pm, in Eastern Avenue, Southend.
Essex County Fire and Rescue and Service dispatched two fire crews from Southend to the scene. Police closed the road for more than an hour while emergency services dealt with the scene.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “Fire crews reported that one elderly man was trapped in his vehicle following a crash with a tree.
“Fire crews released the man by 5.17pm, before leaving him in the care of the Ambulance Service.
