WILL you be one of the ten young musicians who gets to bravely showcase your song in front of a live audience, that you've created during the week on the Young Songwriters' Lab?

There is still just about time to get your application in (closing date is Thursday April 5) to join the Culture Lab, run by live music organisation SoSlam (Southend On Sea Live Acoustic Musicians) in conjunction with Metal Arts.

The lucky ten who create their own original material, will be given the opportunity to work with each other alongside industry professionals, for five days at Chalkwell Hall in Chalkwell Park.

Over the five days the musicians will get the chance to play existing work, workshop with producers, musicians and promoters, and have the time to experiment with different ways of creating and writing new music for live performance and studio recording.

The week will include vocal coaching, performance technique (on stage and on video); working in a recording studio; improvisation and jam sessions; writing new material and learning alongside peer group.

A spokesman for SoSlam, said the young musicians will take away lots of new skills and benefit from working with other like minded young people as well as learning new skills.

The Lab takes place from Monday April 9, until Friday April 13 from 10am until 5pm each day.

The evening performance takes place on Friday April 13 at 7pm, at Chalkwell Hall in Chalkwell Park, Chalkwell Avenue, Westcliff.

Representatives from SoSlam and Metal will select the winners based on potential and promise shown; enthusiasm for what the opportunity offers you

and availability to take part for all five days.
