AN investigation has been launched after an assault outside a community centre left a victim with a broken leg.

Officers are appealing for information after two men were attacked outside The Paddocks Community Centre, in Long Road, Canvey.

A 43-year-old man was assaulted and suffered a broken leg.

A relative of the victim, a 35-year-old man, rushed to his aid, but was punched in the face and left with swelling to the eye.

The assault took place shortly after 2.50am on Saturday, April 14.

The male suspect, who left the scene before emergency services attended, was described as white, about 6ft 2ins tall, aged about 25 and of skinny build.

He had blond hair and wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we would like to speak to witnesses to the incident or anyone with information about who is responsible.
