CHILDREN explored their emotions as part of autism awareness day.

Youngsters at Lee Chapel Primary School, Basildon, wore a different colour representing an emotion for each year group.

They also had a bake sale, bought Autism Awareness ribbons and had lessons about their emotions.

Children took part in a competition to design a bookmark or ribbon to celebrate the awareness day, with the winners getting a box of goodies.

Chloe Taverner, the school’s special educational needs representative, said: “They children loved the day.

“They really liked the colours they got to dress in.

“It was interesting how some of the children even in Year Six struggled to describe their emotions and how they felt.”
