Priory Park played host to this year’s first Music in the Park event on Saturday entertaining crowds who gathered to enjoy the summer sun.

Eight children and 14 adults from the Tilbury Bass and Percussion Academy performed between 3pm and 5pm at the park’s bandstand.

Andrea Lewis, secretary of The Tilbury Band and the Tilbury Brass and Percussion Academy, said: “It is always a pleasure performing in Priory Park and we always have a great day, rain or sun.

“We had a brilliant turnout due to the weather, and a lot of people seemed to enjoy sitting back on their picnic blankets and deckchairs to support both the children and adults performing.

“It’s also such a great experience for the children who are just getting started in the academy, and there were a lot of very proud parents and grandparents.

“We hope to perform next year to celebrate our centenary - over many of those 100 years we have performed at various bandstands old and new and we are always looking for new members, especially children, to join us.”

Music in the Park performances will take place every weekend until September 30th.
