A teenager has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in Wickford.

The 16-year-old boy has been charged after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed outside an address in Russell Gardens on Saturday May 12 at around 11.10pm.

The victim, who is believed to have been attending a party, was outside the address when a boy on a moped approached him.

An argument broke out at around 11pm and after that, the boy on the moped stabbed the victim in the back and drove away.

A suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.

The 16-year-old appeared in the dock at Basildon Magistrates' Court today.

Dressed in prison-issued clothing, he spoke only to confirm his name and address.

Essex Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the incident, and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have dashcam footage or CCTV.
