IT'LL be a double helping of big vocals, blues and soul at the Railway Hotel this Friday night, when A No Good Woman and the Kingsnakes supports the legendary Barrence Whitfield and the Savages.

The Southend band, fronted by singer Dawnette Fessey, will be supporting the US powerhouse band from Boston, from 8pm, when they stop off on their Soul Flowers Of Titan world tour.

The night - Friday May 18 - promises to be quite a show. It's one of a number of visits that Barrence and his band have visited the Southend pub. During one of these shows, he thrilled the audiences by dancing out the front door of the pub mid-set, continuing to belt out his song as he strutted around the outside of the venue along Nelson Street, and came back into the premises, jumping onto the bar and leaving a crack which remains to this day.

Meanwhile the Kingsnakes are also renowned for their high energy, sassy and swinging performances, with Dawnette at the helm.

She explains her alter ego and stage moniker - A No Good Woman - pays "homage to all those women who one; lived their lives before me, two; stand strong in present times and three; are yet to take their place in this journey.

"A No Good Woman won’t be boxed in by rules, will live life to the fullest and don’t take no s**t!

"From Eve to modern times a No Good Woman knows what she’s about …. sassy, strong, sexy, spicy and sweet without apology.

"So when you come to hear me sing my song…. you better be ready!"

The Railway Hotel is in Clifftown Road.
