A police cordon has been in place since 3am outside a Laindon pub.
Police are currently on the scene outside the Four Seasons Hungry Horse pub, on Victoria Road, Laindon.
The front seating area at the entrance of the pub has been closed off from the public and one police vehicle has been in place all night.
At around 9.45 this morning, forensics officers arrived at the scene.
It is currently unclear why the cordon is in place, but the Echo has contacted Essex police for comment.
A resident in Victoria Road was shocked when they discovered the cordon this morning.
They said: "I was told by a friend about it but I had not heard anything in the middle of the night.
"It must be serious if they have taped it all off."
More to follow.
