A young man was assaulted after a brawl broke out outside a pub last night.

The Echo reported that a police cordon had been put in place at 3am this morning after an incident at the Four Seasons pub in Victoria Road, Basildon.

Essex Police attended after reports a man in his teens was assaulted outside the front entrance of the pub shortly after the incident.

A fight broke out around 11pm last night when the pub was closing.

Minutes after it broke out, a duty manager rushed outside to separate the fight, where the victim was seen walking away from the pub.

The pub was then closed up by the manager, and when they returned this morning, they found the cordon had been put up by police.

There has been no confirmation of how many people were involved in the incident that took place.

A spokesman for Essex Police released a statement about the incident.

The spokesman said: "We were called just before 1am this morning, Thursday, May 17, with reports that a man had been assaulted after a disturbance between a group of people.

"This was outside the Four Seasons pub in Victoria Road, Laindon.

"The man, who is in his late teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"These are not believed to be life threatening.

"An area search was conducted and officers at Basildon CID are progressing enquiries.

"Anyone with information should call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Greene King, who represent the Four Seasons stated that an ambulance was called to another address, where police were then notified of the incident at around 1am.

A spokesman for the Four Seasons, said: "We are supporting the police’s ongoing investigation into an incident outside the pub last night as it was closing and have provided them with our CCTV footage.

"The pub is open and trading as usual today and we hope the man involved makes a quick recovery.”
