FANS of the roots and blues revolution will be psyched to know the "masters of arcane blues secrets" Daddy Long Legs are once again returning to Southend, all the way from Brooklyn in the US.
The band is led by harp playing, blues hollering, growling, barking, yelping frontman Daddy Long Legs himself, with "slinky-assed multi-stringed slide riff making" guitarist Murat Akturk, and punchy "deep as hell groover" percussionist and drummer Josh Styles.
The three musicians play gutsy, rocking blues and promise to leave everyone covered in sweat.
Their Evil Eye On You LP is noted for its "wild, woolly and real" twelve cuts infused with hisses and pops into the tracks.
"It would be easy to believe this music was recorded a few decades ago, but no – Daddy Long Legs is happening right now, boys and girls" they say.
You can see them at the Railway Hotel, Clifftown Road, Southend, this Sunday, June 3, from 7pm.
Support comes from Southend based Rockabilly blues and soulman Steve Hooker, and his Stripped Down Stompin' Band.
Steve will have just returned from a private gig in Hackney the night before.
Tickets are £8 available from wegottickets.com/event/440275
