AN EX-SERVICE man has been honoured with a memorial plant on the island seafront.
The pot has a plaque in memory of George Turner, known as Sam.
Canvey Bay Watch, a beach working community group, worked with members of the family to arrange the pot at Thorney Bay Beach, Canvey.
The family live on Canvey.
Sam only recently died which prompted the beach group to do this tribute.
Sam was a WW2 service man and had an extensive time in the armed services.
He joined the Royal Navy in 1940 aged 17, after training he was sent to HMS Flamingo in the Mediterranean Fleet.
In April 2015 the Russian Embassy ambassador presented him with the Ushakov Medal, a Medal awarded to surviving veterans of the Arctic Convoys.
He a proud ex service man.
