A LARGE fire has destroyed containers at a waste disposal plant.
Two crews from Basildon and one from Rayleigh were called to the fire in Pitsea Hall Lane just after 2pm today.
On arrival, crews reported that four large containers with plastic dome roofs, which measure approximately two metres by four metres and are used to contain waste fluids, were alight.
Due to the poor water supply in the area, firefighters requested the support of a water bowser - a special appliance which contains a large amount of water and is able to be used in remote locations.
Crews extinguished the fire by 3.16pm and then remained at the scene to dampen down remaining hotspots.
The containers have been destroyed.
The fire was caused accidentally during construction work.
