THREE Canvey residents joined a march against prostate cancer and raised hundreds of pounds.

On Saturday June 16, Sue Richardson, Karl Mumford and Kinga Szollosi joined more than 2,000 people for Prostate Cancer Uk's March for Men at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

Prostate Cancer has now overtaken breast cancer to become the third cancer killer in the UK, taking one man every 45 minutes.

Sue, Karl and Kinga completed a 10k sponsored march, to raise awareness and money towards research for better testing and treatments needed.

Sue, Karl and Kinga have close family and friends who have been affected by Prostate Cancer.

Sue said: "I did try and set up an online justgiving page but not being very computer savvy, we have gone for the other option of getting sponsorship from friends and family.

"We are still in the process of collecting this but we have raised £500 pounds so far, we would like to raise £1000 pounds if possible."

If people wish to donate direct to Prostate Cancer Uk they can make an online payment at prostatecanceruk.org/donate or call 0800 082 1616 for further details on how to donate.

The event opened at 10am and the walk started at 11am.

There were three routes on the day including 2km, 5km or 10km.
