GET set for some more vintage voom in Southend as classic cars grace the seafront this weekend.
The London to Southend Classic Car Run is back on Sunday and this means plenty of awesome autos will be making a pit stop along the seafront and on City Beach from 10am-5pm on Sunday (July 1).
Now in its 25th year the event is organised by the South Eastern Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club and participants are encouraged to dress in period costume - very Downton Abbey!
Up to 100 cars follow a route from the East End of London (Fairlop Waters in the Redbridge), through the sleepy villages and towns of rural Essex, emulating the day trips to the seaside of bygone days, to arrive at Southend seafront.
Entertainment and music will be laid on at City Beach to welcome the crowds.
“On the seafront, members of the general public will be able to join in with the day’s events, have a wander around the free classic vehicle display and get the chance to chat with the owners and reminisce of the ‘old days’, as well as enjoying all the things that this popular vibrant and modern sea front has to offer,” said a spokesman for the car run.
