SHOPPING centre staff bounced hundreds of times on space hoppers to raise vital money for charity.
Staff at Eastgate, in Basildon, managed more than 300 bounces on the retro devices in front of amused shoppers, setting a target of 161 feet – higher than the 1960s tower block Brooke House.
They raised £1,342 for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Little Havens.
Youngsters were invited to have a go too.
There was also a visit from the Hoppy Hammers – a pair of giant footballers on bouncy stilts who were sporting the new West Ham kit.
Eastgate manager Ian Clark said: “A big thank you to our team and our shoppers who bounced like professionals at One Great Day and helped us raise vital funds for Little Havens and Great Ormond Street.
“It was fantastic to see so many youngsters and a few parents enjoying themselves jumping about on space hoppers.”
Children enjoyed a fundraising craft workshop where they decorated items to support England at the World Cup. There was face painting on the day as well.
