Officers are appealing for witnesses after a suspected targeted assault took place in Cromwell Road, Grays.

We were called just before 6.10pm on Friday, June 29, to reports that a man in his 20s had been attacked by a group of three or four men.

The victim was stabbed, beaten and had an unknown substance thrown in his face. He has since been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The men then left the scene in a grey Mercedes, driving via Orsett Road.

Police are treating this as a targeted and isolated assault.
