TWO men were removed from a seafront fun fair for allegedly being drunk and fighting.

Families and on lookers were shocked as the men were brought out of Adventure Island, Southend, last Saturday afternoon.

Crowds of people stood on the packed seafront watching the incident.

It is thought the men, who are believed to be father and son, were arguing while at the park and became violent.

The park security then took the decision to remove the pair after witnessing the confrontation on the park’s CCTV cameras.

It is thought the men were continuing an earlier argument.

A video shared on social media saw a man being detained on the ground outside the park by the park’s security.

One onlooker claimed that the men threw punches at the security guards as they were removed.

The full time mum, 23, said: “There were people screaming at each other.

“I saw two men on the floor and two young boys trying to go for the men on the ground

“The men were clearly drunk and I think they are from Southend and known for causing trouble in that area.

“It was scary as my four-year-old son was watching and I couldn’t quite work out why they were fighting.

“There were lots of other children watching too.”

Adventure Island bosses said they take safety very seriously.

Philip Miller, executive chairman at Adventure Island, said: “We have around two million visitors annually, so thankfully such occurrences as this are extremely rare.

“In this particular instance, two men who we think are related, and were somewhat ‘worse for wear’, became involved in a heated argument.

“Because we take the safety of all our customers extremely seriously, we have extensive CCTV monitoring throughout the park and our excellent security team responded quickly to stop matters escalating.

“We are a family-focused, fun environment with a special appeal to children, so their protection is paramount and we would like to reassure all our visitors that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at Adventure Island.”

There have been no reported injuries following the incident.
