ABOUT 15 traveller caravans have pitched up in Shoebury.
It is believed the group, which includes caravans and cars, arrived at about 1.30pm on Monday at the green space near to St Mary’s Church, known as St Mary’s Green, in North Shoebury Road.
The group grew steadily throughout yesterday to about 15 caravans.
Residents have reported seeing them driving across the grass which is usually a popular location for dog walkers.
A Southend Council spokesman, said: “We are aware and council officers have been on site this afternoon with police support, serving the appropriate notices.”
It is unclear where the travellers came from and when they will move off.
