Police have arrested two men after car chasing in Westcliff.
The incident happened yesterday, officers signalled a car to stop without success at around 8.10pm and it was in crash with another vehicle shortly afterwards.
No one was injured in the collision.
Officers and quick-thinking members of the public detained the driver.
A 44-year-old man from Shoebury was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs, theft of a car, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence and insurance.
The passenger who ran from the scene was tracked by a police dog in Southend Road at around 8.20pm and detained. He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a car.
They both remain in custody for questioning.
