The rider, from Rochford and a Vauxhall Zafira were involved in a crash at the Hawk Hill roundabout at the junction of the A130 and A132 near Battlesbridge at about 6.10pm on Saturday August 11.
The man's cycle helmet was heavily cracked as a result of the crash but by wearing it, he escaped without suffering a more serious injury.
Pc Andrew Sumner, of Stanway Roads Policing Unit, said: “The damage to the bike helmet is evident.
"This could have been directly onto his skull resulting in very serious injuries.
“I can’t stress enough what a good investment a bike helmet is to your own safety or that of a family member.”
The driver of the Vauxhall, a 23-year-old woman from Grays was reported to Essex Police for careless driving.
