A man has been arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour following a hate related incident involving a transgender woman in Southend.

The 41-year-old man from Westcliff was arrested on Saturday, August 11, and he has been released on bail pending further enquires until Monday, September 3.

Police received reports on Wednesday, July 25, that a man filmed himself making hate related threats towards a woman at around 9.45am.

Officers carried out further enquiries before making an arrest.

Officers from Essex Police are continuing to give the victim support.
