THREE bodies have been recovered at the bottom of Beachy Head.

Coastguards were called to the foot of the cliff, just west of the Belle Tout lighthouse where they found the bodies of two women.

They arrived to the scene at about 2pm on Saturday, August 11.

The bodies were recovered later in the afternoon and transferred to an RNLI lifeboat to be taken to Eastbourne.

While this operation was taking place, a third body - that of a man - was found near the Beachy Head lighthouse.

The body was recovered by coastguards and also transferred to Eastbourne by lifeboat.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "Police believe that they have established the identities of the man and one of the women, but they had not been formally identified on Monday morning.

"Enquiries are continuing to identify the second woman. There are no suspicious circumstances and the matter has been passed to the coroner's officer."
