A SPECIAL festival event for disabled people has been hailed a major success.

It was organised by Jenny Barnham, 49, from Southend who works for Eco Wings in Southend.

The company provides help with social skills help for young disabled adults.

She said: “I want more people to accept disabled people as sadly not enough do.

“I have held a similar event in the past at the football club.

“It went so well and everyone really enjoyed it.

“I had wonderful feedback afterwards from parents with disabled children.

“We had people who came from as far as Clacton and even London.

“People were commenting on how there are not enough events like this around and how we need more.

“I am planning on making this an annual event.

“I wanted to give the disabled people a nice event with a festival feel.

“We had plenty of free entertainment and bands gave their time and talents for free.”

The music festival included local bands and a range of other entertainment with the area decorated with balloons as part of the party atmosphere. The event helps families to have fun together and to share their experiences while enjoying some time out. The event was held at Trinity Football Club, Southend on Saturday.
