THE brewery which owns a popular pub which closed suddenly has said it will re-open soon.
The Hospital Arms, in Crouch Street, Colchester, has not opened since Tuesday evening.
A handwritten note pinned to the door stated: “Closed until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience.”
The pub is run by Adnams, based in Southwold, Suffolk.
A spokeswoman for the brewery said: “We were made aware Wednesday afternoon the pub had ceased trading.
“We will be making contact with the official appointee and will seek to reopen the pub as soon as possible.
“We are unable to comment further at this time.”
The Gazette’s repeated calls to the Hospital Arms on Friday went unanswered.
There was also no response to queries sent through the pub’s Facebook page and email address.
The pub specialises in real ale and traditional food, however, regulars say numbers have dwindled in the past year.
