A shop was robbed by at gun point and the crook stole hundreds of pounds.

The armed robbery took place at Freshways, in Third Avenue, Canvey, at around 10.45pm yesterday.

A man entered the shop and pointed what has been described as a black handgun at store workers before demanding cash.

He then left with a three figure sum of cash, which he put in an orange Sainsbury’s shopping bag.

The suspect has been described as being white, aged in his 20s, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a skinny build.

He was described as wearing a black zip-up hoody, black jogging bottoms, white trainers and had a black scarf covering his face.

The store was unable to comment.
