TWO fundraising events have been organised to raise money for a police officer who broke his neck while playing rugby.
Arron Williams, 25, was playing rugby for Basildon First XV, when the accident happened.
Mr Williams, from Thundersley, is in Stoke Mandeville national spinal injuries centre.
He has virtually no feeling below the shoulders, although he can move his right arm and has minimal movement in his left arm.
The official launch of the Arron Williams Trust Fund, set up to pay for his medical care and rehabilitation programme, will be held on Tuesday, November 13, at Talk Bar, in Lucy Road, Southend, from 8pm.
A DJ and bands will provide entertainment. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Talk Bar and Vie Bar in Broadway, Leigh.
On Thursday November 29, three bands will be play at a gig at Chinnerys in Marine Parade, Southend. The lineup includes Baddies, Hoodlums and Tom Allalone. Entry is £5 and doors will open at 8pm.
