Ministry launches latest art creation

AN open morning to launch the latest piece of artwork by the Art Ministry's fabric group was held at the Tyrells Centre in Seamore Avenue, Thundersley.

When covered in fabric, it will be displayed there for everyone to see and admire. The collage will measure 8ft by 4ft and is expected to take 18 months to complete.

The Art Ministry fabric group is a small collection of people whose interests lie in creative work using fabrics of all types and textures and include fabric painting, embroidery, patchwork, beadwork and knitting.

Members have completed a variety of fabric collages and a piece of their artwork has recently gone on display at Montgomery School, Benfleet.

Their current project is based on original artwork by Ted Rodwell, a local artist, and depicts the view from Canvey up Essex Way to Hadleigh, including some of the local landmarks such as Benfleet Station, St Mary's Church and the water tower.

The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Art Ministry at the United Reformed Church in Church Road, Hadleigh.

If anyone is interested in joining the group they should contact Kathleen Guttridge on 01268 794110. New members are always welcome.
