A man's body has sadly been found in Canvey Lake, Essex Police have confirmed.

Officers were called around 6.40am this morning (August 30), with reports that the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, had been found in the water near to Denham Road, Canvey.

Witnesses soon reported spotting a large police and ambulance presence at the scene, with "five police cars" in the car park and the area taped off.

Forensic teams also attended, with residents reportedly spotting police search the dyke.

The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained, while police have confirmed their enquiries remain ongoing.
