BASILDON council will promote race relations in the event of a massive traveller eviction, it was claimed yesterday.
On the final day of the High Court hearing, barrister Paul Epstein QC, representing the council, said: "If the judicial review is not upheld, the council would responsibly consider how it can help community cohesion and integration by making suitable publicity available to a wider audience."
If the verdict goes against hundreds of Irish travellers at Dale Farm in Crays Hill, and Hovefields in Wickford, they could face the boot immediately.
Meanwhile, the Gypsy Council is preparing a plan B where travellers will attend a series of "eviction protocol meetings".
Mr Justice Andrew Collins's is not expected to make his judgement until after Easter.
