A MILKSHAKE bar is coming to Southend with more than 100 flavours from Twiglets to peanut butter.

Shake It milkshake bar is set to open on April 26 near the railway bridge in Southend High Street.

Steve Vincent and Sam Phillips, both from Westcliff, decided on the venture after seeing similar cafes elsewhere in the country.

Steve, 26, said: "Southend seemed to be missing out on a milkshake bar, so we decided two years ago to fill the gap. The town has lots of coffee shops but this is unique.

"We have been making up as many different flavours we could think of and testing them on our friends to see what works and what doesn't."

They have now come up with a menu of over 100 flavours, including Weetabix, jam doughnuts and blackjack, and seasonal offerings like Christmas pudding.

There will also be the more usual milkshake flavours and fruity tastes.

Well, I'm disgusted by the thought of this..

Has anyone thought of the way the poor cow's are being exploited?

What if people visit this 'establishment' and then go out driven wild with dairy ****?
There'll not be a safe udder for miles..

Then you'll have an increase in cow pimps selling 'milk' on the street corners, I hear that the word on the streets is that they call themselves 'farmers', disgraceful.

They also peddle a powdered substance known as 'formula' which they hope to get babies hooked on, pah, the thought of these poor mites snorting this stuff through 'teats' breaks my heart.

I'd suggest that some one get one of petitions going to ban this stuff banned before the denizens of Southend are hooked on it..

While wishing them luck with there enterprise i personally feel a better use for the premises could be found in a town centre ,has any counciler realised high streets are mainly for shopping theres already more than enough fast food and coffee shops in Southend ,
Its about time they started using the high street for local shoppers rather than pushing the local people to the outskirts of the town for grocerys after all its a sea side town not oxford street .but having said that i still wish them success with it But maybe the sea front might have been better .

Good idea - there's a milkshake bar a bit like this down in Weymouth which I visited once - it'll do a great trade in the summer months with any luck. I'd rather see a milkshake bar in the high street than another pound shop.

Good News and just what we need in the Hign St!

Now I won't have to waddle my fat a**e too far to wash down my latest Mackie D or Ketucky fried fat.

Mind you, I'll be going round on wheels by the time I'm 35!

Wow how childish. Do you reckon execs at Burger King think "how do we compete with MacDonalds, hey I know let's boo them on the internet. Please.
Local lads doing a local business buying in from local suppliers. Southend!

Sounds a bit like sour grapes to me. What is it with corporations who think they have the god given right to shun other people from close nit towns wanting to do things their own way. Southend is a special place that doesnt need another big name taking trade away from smaller businesses. Was it only last week that the Echo published information stating that Southend is one of the least successful places in the country from small business. I say very well done finding something new for the high street and something for the young people in the town to get excited about.
I say GO AWAY SHAKE AWAY!!

ok, so from this outrageous comment'ShipShape' i take that your a vegan. Well luv i have news for you, so am I and i love the place.....why......b
ecause they do VEGAN SOYA MILKSHAKES you ninny!
as a vegan it is very difficullt to get anything nice to eat on the nigh street unless you want to eat plain veg all day, so having the option to have a cool refreshing soy milkshake with fresh fruit put in for good measure is wonderful.
Thanks lads, your doing a great job. YUM YUM YUM :D

i can honestly say im never going back to this place, the milkshakes r weak. i asked 4 a chocolate milkshake and all i got was vanilla ice cream, with a tiny bit of hard blended chocolate in it. nd my mate who had a cream egg one, got exactly the same but with half a cream egg at the bottom. at least use chocolate ice cream to blend it with 4 christ sake, was weak
