Westcliff puts art on show

1:12am Friday 16th May 2008

GET on track to discovering the work of Westcliff's talented artists at the town's art trail.

The Westcliff Art Trail will exhibit art work of painters, sculptors and photographers, until May 17.

Taking place across 25 venues, including shops, churches and children's centres, and showcasing 33 artists, the event is sure to excite and delight art lovers from all over south Essex.

"The idea is that it gives artists the opportunity to display their work because often it is difficult for them to exhibit in a gallery," says organiser Simon Williams.

"The key thing is that it not only helps the artists but also benefits the area and businesses through people coming in to view the work."

The event is run with the Milton Community Partnership charity and will exhibit a wide range of work.

"The work on display is very varied, using lots of different mediums, but must of it is contemporary," says Simon.

"I think there is something for everyone at the exhibitions.

"There is also affordable work so if people are interested in buying original art they can do so at a reasonable price."

More than 30 of the artists live in Westcliff and organisers are keen to help them out.

Simon says: "We have concentrated more on getting artists from the Westcliff area because we want to give them the opportunity to show their work in this way."

"This is an exciting project and I think the public will really enjoy it."
